Cody grew up around real estate development with his father, Zed. As far as Cody and real estate goes, Cody founded Proper-T Photos in 2017 (later Proper-T Pro), before selling it. Photographing thousands of houses across western Massachusetts and  central Connecticut, with occasionally photographing houses as far as Boston, Greenwich, and Newport. Before Proper-T Photos, Cody originally wanted to become a real estate agent. He attended three courses, but had no luck taking the exams. After 8 years of real estate photography & marketing, he sold the business to focus on other businesses. He helped Brandon Ernhout create Vista Vision, who later hired Julien Johnson. Cody always wanted to sell house designs and build houses of all kinds, ever since he was a kid drawing a countless amount of houses. That carried on throughout the years, with Proper-T Pro he made floor plans for houses for sale. Using the floor plan CAD software, he would design his own houses to someday sell the floor plans, have building plans made to sell, and or build. In 2024, Zed had two heart attacks, which needed 11 extensive surgeries. A close call. Cody realized it was time that he needed to start building, to not take the knowledge, advice, and resources of his father for granted, that it can all be gone at any moment. At 28, in 2025, it was decided East Homes needed to be created. While visiting his father at Baystate hospital in Springfield, Cody had the phone call with Allen Murray which sealed the deal to fund the construction process by East Homes.
